Gwinnett Senior Golden Games 2007
Meeting Minutes June 18, 2007
Our New President, Bob Giselbach, called the meeting to order.
Eileen gave the treasurer’s report. We have a balance of $5479 minus a few final bills
The secretary read the minutes. They stand approved as read.
Bob wanted to know how many venue managers were planning to volunteer again next year. It is important to know how many positions will be needed to fill.
Our next topic to discuss was the t-shirts. Eileen and Bob are going to try to get them earlier this year. We discussed the fact that whatever color is offered to us by Delta, it should be agreeable to all.
New Business: The Comment sheets will be used for planning. Thank you Doris for calculating the sheets for us. If you want to be heard, please fill them out next time. Most of them were very favorable. Bob did ask for comments from this meeting. Diane said we should do away with fishing for there are not any fish in the pond. We asked Pam if the County would stock it for us. Pam said they would but would charge us. We will have to discuss this at a later meeting.
Shuffleboard – Judith made a suggestion about going back to the old way we played, there is no competition in this new way. We will have to discuss this at a later meeting. We would need more help running it and also maybe more courts.
Gail said the venue managers should have a list of people participating with phone numbers along with the emergency list.
Meals – All comments for the food were positive. Bob did have a suggestion about reducing the registration back to $10.00 then charge $2.50 each for the opening and closing meals; total would still be $15.00. Many members did not show for the closing ceremony and many plates of food were wasted. So we would only order for those who pay the $2.50. We will have to discuss this at a later meeting.
Name tags – many requested them. We could discuss this later.
Much corn was left and we ended up donating it. But everyone loves corn shucking. So we will keep this event. Maybe we will have lunch instead of breakfast at the closing ceremony so that people will stay to play the games and then eat. We will discuss this at a later meeting. It is really too soon to make all these decisions.
Carrying the Torch – a name was mentioned to carry the torch next year.
There was no further new business so Bob adjourned the meeting.
Our next general meeting will be September 17, 2007. Enjoy your summer!
Sincerely,
Marie Hickman, Secretary
