Gwinnett Senior Golden Olympics

2006 Closing Day Ceremony

May 19, 2006

On May 19, 2006 at 9:00 am Friday morning, we held our Closing Day Ceremony at the Gwinnett Senior Center.  It was a carefree, relaxing day for all.

We started with Breakfast Snacks, coffee and socializing among friends.  Then the Fun and Games began.  There was Apple Peeling, Corn Shucking, Indoor Games and a Fishing Contests.  Medals were given out to 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed winners.

At 11:15 am there was a Welcome to all by our 2005-06 Chairman, Al Sandham.  There was a very short Business Meeting followed by lunch. We ended up with 301 contestants, a record breaking total.  There wasn’t any Treasurer’s report because Al announced Eileen was in the hospital having tests done.  We told Bob that we pray that all goes well for her and want her to know that she was missed by all. A Senior Golden Olympics meeting without you Eileen, is like a day without sunshine.

We sent a Get Well Wishes from all to a very special lady!

There will be a “clean up” meeting on the 3rd Monday of June, the 19th.

The Invocation was given by Mark Hornby, Pastor of Highlands Presbyterian Church, Grayson and lunch was served at 11:45 am.  A delicious lunch box was provided by Schlotzsky’s Deli.

Everyone had a wonderful time and we want to thank all the donors, individuals and places of business, for all your generous donations making this a fun filled and memorial event in the lives of Gwinnett Seniors.

Don’t forget our next meeting on June 19, 2006.  Have a wonderful summer.

Sincerely,

Marie Hickman, Secretary
