Gwinnett Senior Golden Olympics

Meeting Minutes

April 17, 2006

Al Sandham, Our President, called the meeting to order at 11:00 A.M.  This is our last planning meeting for Our Senior Olympics.  Opening ceremony is this Friday April 21st.

We had a great attendance; all our venue managers and volunteers were making arrangements for the opening day. Our final application count was 300, a record breaker!

Good News! Our Olympic attendance is growing, we had 270 last year. It is very important that you attend the opening ceremony to receive your schedule of events, plus a good meal, great entertainment, a tee shirt, a special gift and over $4000 worth of door prizes will be given away.  It’s an event you won’t want to miss. Registration is from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Then the fun begins!

Eileen gave the treasurer’s report. We have a balance as of today of $15,290.10. We received a generous gift of $1500 from one of our Platinum Contributors. We really appreciate the interest and support of all our sponsors, their gifts and prizes that they have donated to us to make our Senior Olympics a great success. Their names will be advertised to our seniors and friends so that they can patronize their businesses when possible.

If you volunteered for opening day, please report to Elaine Shiver. Any last minute donations should be given to Judith Eubanks

Our entertainment will be Emily Sheffield; all that have seen her performance loved her. So we are looking forward to her coming.  She will perform right after lunch.

We are still looking for an Outreach Chairperson (one who recruits volunteers and & Venue Managers). Anyone interested in this position, please contact Al, Eileen or Bob.

Mark this Date on your calendar! August 10, 2006. There will be an Annual Silent Auction at Delmar Gardens 6:00-8:30 p.m. If interested, call Jennifer 770-923-3100.

We will mention it again later.

There is also one bit of sad information I must mention. For those who knew him or of him, Jim Posey passed away. Our prayers and deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

The minutes to this meeting will be short because we have accomplished all our planning notes and are now looking forward to putting it into action on Friday.  Hoping to see you at the 2006 Senior Golden Olympics and good luck in your competing to win many medals!

                                                                                    Respectfully Submitted
