Gwinnett Senior Golden Games Meeting
Monday December 17, 2007
Bob, our President, called our meeting to order. He welcomed all our members, followed by a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. We have a visitor with us today. Her name is Elizabeth Neustadt; we hope she will join us for future meetings.
The minutes of the last meeting were read. Dana corrected the amount of t-shirts in his possession. We are waiting for one final shipment.
Eileen read the treasurer’s report. Our balance is $6108.94. She gave a donation update;
H2U gave us $500 and Lloyd & Associates $500. Dana mentioned a possibility of receiving from Wal-mart a non profit organization donation offered to a Congressman for disbursement.
Our food committee announced that we will discuss our menu after the holidays.
Restaurant personnel told us that there would be plenty of time to set the food up for our opening and closing meetings.
We were surprised to hear Bob announce that the Atlanta Senior Games were cancelled this year. Dana feels that the reason is because they didn’t reach out for participation but for sponsorships instead.
We have all our vendors for the games. However, we could always use volunteers for events.
Our booklets have gone to the printer. After they are mailed out to all our former participants, there will be extra copies for adult communities, senior centers, senior clubs and we will hold some back for late-comers.
Other comments,
Bob mentioned the size of the Utah State Games (Huntsman Games) Do we want to grow bigger? We can grow to 500 without a problem. There are over 70,000 persons that can join us. We need to spread the word. Think about it.
There is a generic packet for corporations. Eileen will provide them, just ask.
Our storage space is accessible now at Rhodes Jordan Park. Brent will provide us with 4 keys. Only 4 members will have the keys, others must go through them to get into storage.
Again, the dates for the Senior Games are April 16 to May 14, 2008. March 10th is the deadline for applications.
Please note: the location for Archery has changed. Check for the new location when you sign up.
Our next meeting will be January 21, 2008.
There wasn’t any more business to discuss so Bob adjourned the meeting. Happy Holidays to All! See you next year.
Sincerely
Marie Hickman, Secretary
