Gwinnett Senior Golden Olympics 2007

Minutes of Meeting

11/20/06

Our President, Al Sandham, was away this week so our Vice President, Doug Jones conducted our meeting.  Our attendance was very good.  Several of our venue managers attended to confirm their positions and dates of their events for the Olympics.

Al called an Executive Meeting last Monday to discuss our budget.  So our topics for discussion were about the changes we will be making this year to increase our budget and to provide a better and more exciting Senior Olympic Event.

Enterprise Car Rental is a new Sponsor.  If you know of any business that would like to sponsor our Senior Olympics, we have forms for you to take and have filled out. Judith and Rachel requested forms. If there are any others please see Eileen or Al.

The entry fee this year will be $15 which includes lunch, a tee-shirt and a gift.  Guests will also be $15.  We will offer them membership to include the free lunch, tee-shirt and gift.  Bowling will be $3.00 including shoes and coffee.  Golf is $25.  We asked all the attendees how they felt about the entry fee raise.  All were in favor of it.

Pam has agreed to pay for our printing and postage which will save us over $700.

The Executive Committee agreed to hold off on our donations from the Senior Olympics until after July 2007.  Eileen made a motion, all voted yes and Dana seconded the motion.

We have all our venue managers in place, except for Running.  If we don’t have a volunteer for Running we will drop the event.  The dates are set except for a few.  We need them soon for shortly after Thanksgiving Eileen, Susie, Marie and Jan would like to proof-read the brochure and get it to the printer by the first of Dec. We would like to have them ready to mail by the first of the New Year.

Eileen gave her treasurer report $4677.74 after taking out money for the prize committee.

We discussed the storage shed we were planning to buy to replace the rental storage space we now have.  Shannon Plunkett, Director GCP&R, was in the building and stopped in to tell us that she was trying to get us inside storage at the senior center.  She will get back to us. Also, Brent Walker, the new Coordinator sat in our meeting

Bob talked about the new game plan we will use for shuffleboard; it will be only one day instead of 3. You will be given 24 discs; highest scores will win .More details later. Also, Bob will take over handling the medals.  If you have accumulated too many medals and ran out of space to keep them, feel free to donate them to our Olympics. It will save Bob time and money to order what we need.  Thank you.

We will wait until Al returns to find out if he checked on the price of a GCSGO pin.

Our next meeting is December 18, 2006.  Susie made a motion to end the meeting. Charles seconded the motion.

Sincerely

                                                                                                                    Marie Hickman, Secretary
