Gwinnett Senior Golden Games Meeting

                                      Monday November 19, 2007

Bob, our President, called our meeting to order.  He welcomed all our members, followed by a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. We have two new faces at our meeting today, Donna Gawlas and Sharad Shah who will be managers at our Senior Games.  Donna will be the Badminton manager, and Sharad will handle Bridge.  Thank you both for volunteering. We now have all the managers set in place for our Senior Games.

The minutes of the last meeting were read. Susie made a motion to accept the minutes as read and Dana seconded it.  Eileen read the treasurer’s report. Our balance is $5577.89.

Walton EMC made a contribution of $2500 last year, we are hoping they will grant us $5000 this year.

Bob made an announcement that Al Sandham, who was our former President, now Honorary Member at Large sent a letter of resignation to him. He and his lovely wife, Marti, will still join us for the Senior Games in 2008.  Bob has nominated Chris Moore to take his position.

Our food committee will meet again before we settle on the menu for the Opening and Closing ceremonies.

A suggestion was made to give Door Prizes at both meetings. That way we are hoping to increase the attendance at the closing meeting.  Too much food was left over, plus a lot of corn and apples from our games had to be donated. Bob liked the ideal and announced that we will split the prizes for both meetings.  The prizes will be the same value as last year.  Diane mentioned she will try to get a 1 year membership at the YMCA, if we are interested in doing an auction, along with the six months door prize.

The application fee will be the same $15, as last year and $15 for guests also.

At the executive meeting, we decided on the gift that will be given to each senior that registers.  It was announced to the members present and everyone was pleased with the selection.

If for any reason you can not attend the Opening Ceremony, you will be able to pick up your packet either at the center or from your manager.

Our next discussion was the distribution of handbooks for 2008.  We would like to have all the information to be in the hands of Eileen and Susie by December 1st.  That is the date they will turn it over to be printed. Bob announced we will make up 1200 booklets for senior centers, and community distribution.  If you know of any senior group you may want to invite, you can pick up the extra booklets here at the Bethesda Senior Center.

Our T-shirts are here. Dana has already had them printed and they are ready to be worn.

There was no other business to discuss.  Bob adjourned the meeting and announced that our next meeting will be December 17th at 10:00 A.M.  Come join us!

                                                                        Sincerely,

                                                                        Marie Hickman, Secretary
