Gwinnett Senior Golden Games Meeting
Monday October 15, 2007
Bob, our President called the meeting to order. He announced that this meeting was basically concerning the acceptance of our new By-laws by all of our members. If there were any comments, he wanted to address them now.
He welcomed all our members, followed by a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
I read the minutes from the last meeting. There was a correction in the cycling date. It should be April 21, 2008. Johnny made a motion to accept the minutes. All accepted.
Eileen gave the treasurer report. Our new balance is $5576.84. No other donations were received this month.
By-laws. Chris made a motion that we accept the new By-laws as written. JoAn seconded it. All voted the new By-laws in effect as is, no changes.
Food Committee We needed to choose a food committee to decide the menu for 2008’s Opening and Closing ceremonies. We didn’t have any volunteers so Eileen, Susie and
Marie will have to plan them. We do wish we could have some new members take charge of some of these committees. We welcome new ideas and it is actually fun to plan these
events. Each pair of helping hands makes the events run more smoothly & quickly.
We asked for suggestions for the gift. Chris mentioned a hand crank flashlight, no batteries. Dana mentioned travel bags, tape measurer, 6 or 12 pack coolers with logo,
waistpak. Carolyn suggested windbreakers, Al mentioned watches, and Eileen mentioned duffle bags. Dana will serve on the gift committee with Chris and Eileen.
Door Prizes. Do we buy them like last year or ask for donations? Everyone was happy with last year’s door prizes. Susie, Judith and Betty will be on this committee again this year.
It will depend mostly on how much money we receive for donations.
Most of the events are scheduled and managers in place for 2008. Bob had a calendar posted at the meeting so that the members could write down the dates of the events that they
were interested in. Two events, Badminton and Bridge need managers; last year’s didn’t respond. We discussed Bocce Ball, May 6th. We asked Sharon if the county could possibly
improve the surface of the courts; at least improve the maintenance on them.
Bob mentioned again the 2 coming events that we posted last month: DELMAR GARDENS, Tues. Oct. l6th and the HEALTH FAIR, Fri. Oct. 26th.
Also if you have so many medals and ran out of grandchildren to give them to, we will gladly take them and use them.
Since there wasn’t any more comments, Bob thanked everyone for coming, which we had a very nice attendance, and adjourned the meeting.
Our next general meeting is November 19, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. There will also be a Board meeting at 9:30.
Sincerely,
Marie Hickman, Secretary
